Ramsay Health Care is committed to providing flexible work arrangements where reasonably practicable which enable employees to balance work, family, lifestyle and personal responsibilities, while also ensuring that the staffing needs of the hospital are achieved.

As part of this commitment, Ramsay Health Care offers a Flexible Leave Program which allows eligible employees to request access to an additional two (2), three (3) or four (4) weeks annual leave per year for family or personal reasons and receive proportionately less pay each pay period throughout the year. Approval is considered on a case by case basis, subject to the needs of each hospital / department as determined by the CEO and Director of Clinical Services or relevant Executive Manager.

The Flexible Leave Program applies to permanent part-time and full-time staff with an ongoing contract of employment in all Ramsay hospitals and facilities. (Nurses in WA must work a minimum of 56 hours per fortnight to be eligible).

Grandparent leave is included as part of carers leave.

As an organisation we pride ourselves on providing flexibility to assist our employees to manage their family commitments and responsibilities without jeopardising their work. This includes 6-10 weeks of paid parental leave (depending on industrial agreements).

In addition, as part of our commitment, we offer a Flexible Leave Program which allows eligible employees to request access to an additional two (2), three (3) or four (4) weeks annual leave per year for family or personal reasons in exchange for proportionately less pay each pay period throughout the year.

This program makes it convenient for eligible employees to take extra time off when they need it without bearing the financial burden that goes with it at the same time.

Each application for study leave will be assessed on its merit.

As part of some enterprise agreements an employee who is legitimately required by Aboriginal tradition to be absent from work for Aboriginal ceremonial purposes will be entitled to up to ten working days unpaid leave in any one year, with the approval of the employer.

Ramsay Health Care Employee Assistance Program is an initiative to provide staff with confidential counselling and support for either work related or personal problems.
As part of our commitment to achieving and maintaining safe, healthy, equitable and productive workplaces, Ramsay Health Care provides access for all Australian-based employees to this service, which provides access to appropriate, timely, professional and confidential counselling and support services for employees for professional, personal, health or work-related issues.
A testament to RHC’s commitment to employee’s wellbeing is our award winning involvement in RUOK? Day in 2010 in which Ramsay employees ‘checked in’ with colleagues, peers, family and friends to ask RU OK? over morning tea and coffee in many of our hospitals.

Ramsay Health Care has recently introduced an Employee Hospital Discount for employees and their immediate families who are admitted as patients at any Ramsay owned hospital. The discount applies to all permanent staff and their immediate families, regardless of their level of private health insurance cover. This discount can be applied to out-of-pocket expenses, including excesses, co-payments and incidentals as well as an uninsured account.

Each year employees can participate in organisation wide activities designed to increase incidental exercise, improve nutritional knowledge and participate in health promotion activities to raise awareness of critical community health issues.
